Today we woke up knowing it was our last full day at Mt Binga.  We started the day by splitting into groups of boys and girls and creating our war cry for Binga Challenge Day.  We thought the boys would be better but the girls were better to start off with.  After we did our first activity which was the 8m Prosaic Climb we did Adrian’s Wall which was fun due to it being in the rain.  We then got to wash the troopies and create a shelter using tarps and big wooden poles.  The instructors came and threw buckets of water on them to see if they were waterproof, no one made it out dry.  We got changed into new clothes after being drenched and the staff cooked hamburgers and sausages.  Later on we finished our challenge by completing the troopy pull (girls won) and speed camp.  After that the staff gave us an excellent afternoon tea (crunchies and soft drink).  The girls had the best war cry and won the whole thing of course.  After the fun day of course we had to do the usual afternoon jobs, except cooking because the staff did it for us.

Today rock climbing and abseiling was really fun at Coomba Falls but the swim was the best.  Rianna was nipped by an eel 4 times!  Solo was a bit scary because a very big thunder storm was coming and we had to be brought back to camp at midnight with nothing but a pillow!  The next day we came back to our tents to find the inside of our tents full of water and sleeping bags drenched.

Stirling

On Monday we went on solo/duo.  I went on duo with Stirling which I was glad about because there was a massive thunderstorm so Mr T came around and told us we were going back to camp.  In the troopy everybody was talking about their storm experiences.  When we all got in our cabin we were still talking about it.

Louie

This morning we got back from solo really early because it was storming #fun #mrbliss, but it was pretty fun besides the weather.  Today we went rock climbing and abseiling at Coomba Falls.  It was really good.  We also swam in the swimming hole which was my favourite part of today.  The troopy ride was also good fun.  When we got back we all had hot Milos because it was freezing and rainy.

Monday, 26 October

Today the boys left for solo so it’s pretty quiet here at Binga.  The girls split into three groups and did trail rides.  I love horse riding and am sad I won’t be doing it again.  Some of the girls and I also helped Miss Myers to do screen printing for our Binga t-shirts, which was cool.  I also cooked afternoon tea and dessert with Krista and Gabby.  Tomorrow the girls are heading out on solo and I’m so excited.

Mollie

Today was quiet.  We fixed a fence and did some painting with Mr Webb then we split off in groups to do the trail ride.  We finished all the t-shirts in one day which was pretty good.  I love Mt Binga but I can’t wait to see all my friends and family.

Saturday, 24 October 2015

Today we woke up around 7am and we all went out to do the morning devotion.  We then had breakfast soon after and everyone got ready for a pretty lazy day because it’s the weekend.  We didn’t do much throughout the day except for designing our Mt Binga t-shirt with a design which everyone was happy about.  We then did pretty much whatever we wanted until 3pm.  We had afternoon tea and got ready for our afternoon jobs.

Matthew

Today was pretty boring because it is the weekend.  All we did today was wash clothes and finalise our designs for the Binga t-shirt.  At three we did arvo jobs and then had showers.

Indigo

This day has been a very average, boring day. We were told we were going to wake up at 5 this morning, but we still woke up at 7.  Turns out that a deal was done the night before that let us skip it.  We finalised the Binga T-Shirts and I think they are looking good.  I played UNO with some of my friends, and then we had afternoon tea.  We did our jobs shortly after and then we had showers.

Sunday, 25 October

Today everyone was very sleepy when we woke up, it would have been a great day to sleep in because it was rainy and cloudy.  We all had devotion and then sat on the veranda in our sleeping bags and tried to make hot chocolates out of what we had.  We played capture the flag with the leaders and it got very competitive and we ended up playing for about 3 hours, it was heaps of fun.

Kate

Everyone was really tired this morning even though we got to sleep in.  We had a devotion and played capture the flag and 44 home for a few hours.  Tomorrow girls go on a trail ride and boys go on solo.

Keely

Today we got a sleep in like we do every single Sunday of Binga.  We had our Sunday devotion then we played capture the flag and 44 home for the majority of the day.  Tomorrow the boys and myself go on solo and the girls go on their trail ride.

Kaiden

Today we just chilled, mostly we just played capture the flag all day.  We tried to play 44 home but people were bored of it so we played capture the flag some more.  I am excited for solo tomorrow and looking forward to all the activities during the last week.

Friday, 23 October

Today was the final day of the girls hike.  We were all very excited to come back to Binga but disappointed because we had so much fun.  We arrived back at 11:00am and the girls were all very proud when we came through the gates.  To make the day more interesting for us we created a tribe including all of us and the instructors.  We painted our bodies with patterns using yellow and green zinc for our tribe colours.  It was heaps of fun, and we also knew we were getting chocolate pudding for dessert and used it as motivation.

Kate, Rianna

The guys had an excellent time at hike most of us enjoyed it and we were all satisfied that we had completed it.  On hike our favourite part was swimming in Platypus Creek but the water was really cold.  We also enjoyed Mr Taylor playing the guitar around the campfire.  We got back to camp after lunch and did a debrief.  Today we painted the sports shed and made shelves for it.  All together this week’s been pretty fun.

Corey

Hiking was so much fun.  It challenged everyone in the group.  The first stop we had was at a river and it was so cool.  There was a dirt wall we slid down, some rock overhangs and I even found a baby bird.  We then stopped at a town hall and had sausages for dinner which was awesome.  Mr Bliss taught us this war game that we played until night time.  The last stop was at a wide open field where we played the war game from the previous day and got to sit around the fire listening to Mr Taylor playing his guitar.  When we got back to Binga it was a good feeling knowing how far we’d come from the start and it was good to stop and rest and get into the swing of things again.  The hike was a really good time and I think everyone of the boys liked it.

Thursday, 22 October

Today we got back from a hike.  The hike went for 4 days and was very tiring.  On the first day of hike I did really well.  I was at the front of the pack.  On the second day I was a bit slower.  I had a lot of blisters on my feet and I was very tired.  The third day wasn’t any better, as it had a lot of hills.  On the fourth day we had to go up hill for about 1.5km.  I was tired but everyone was cheering me on.  My feet still hurt but I’m a lot happier now that I have finished the hike.

Coen

Today the boys got back from a 4 day hike.  The 4 day hike has been my favourite part of Binga and I’ll never forget it.  On the first day we hiked 18km which was a very exhausting day for everyone and myself.  On the second day we hiked 14km and saw some really good views but again was very exhausting.  On the third day we hiked around 12km, this time there were more hills and they were very exhausting but when we got to the top there was a great view.  On the fourth day we hiked around 8km which was today.  We hiked a lot of hills and we were always in the bush and then we had this hill that we had to go up that was about 2km up and was very steep.  When we got back to camp I was so happy that I completed the hike and I now have heaps of confidence in myself.

Kaiden

Today we got back from our 4 day hike.  I wasn’t allowed to hike on the first day since I hurt my leg on Family Day.  At the end of resting my leg and putting ice on my swollen leg, Mr Ford had to take all the supplies to the campsite for night 1 and I was allowed to camp for the first night.  Day 2 I was allowed to hike but they gave me a day bag not the full hiking bag so I put all my sleeping stuff and clothes in the other bag and it was taken in the ute.  I also forgot my hat so I got a cap and a shirt on my head.  The second day we did 14km, it was amazing with the amount of views.  At the end we got to have sausages cooked by Mr Bliss and Mr Taylor.  The third day we found a straw hat that I could wear.  We didn’t have to hike long to get to Platypus Creek.  We had a swim and a 2 hour brea.  Day 4 we did all cross country and it was hilly.

Monday, 19 October

Today the boys left for a 4 day hike so it was a pretty chilled day.  The girls were split into two groups.  My group washed and repainted the sport shed, head to toe.  It’s looking good as new even though we painted it brown.  We also painted the bench seats that our class made.  The other group cleaned out the hike shed and paint tins.  Today was a maintenance day.

Krista

Today we woke up and did our normal routine, then the boys left for their 4 day hike.  We didn’t do any activities today, but we split into groups and helped around the camp.  My group painted the sport shed and the chairs under the macadamia trees.  The girls leave for hike tomorrow and we are looking forward to the adventures ahead.

Today was Family Day.  It was so nice being able to see our families again.  Most of us cried when they arrived.  We all got so much unhealthy food and are starting to feel sick from eating it.  It was really nice seeing our families and showing them around.  We liked showing them the way we have been living for the month.  It was a relaxing day and went way too fast.  When they arrived we had a class worship that we have been working on to show our families.  It was such a good day and we are all very excited for the next 2 weeks to see what else we get up to.  We are all looking forward to doing the 4 day hike on Tuesday.

Krista and Indigo

Everyone woke up excited knowing they were going to see their families and receive awesome food.  When we got out of our cabins we did worship and then set up the chairs in the quad.  Our parents arrived not long after, we all immediately went to our parents.  We gave our families a tour of Binga.  After that most of us ate a lot of junk food and chilled.  Our parents left at 3pm and we said our goodbyes.  Tomorrow the boys are leaving for a 4 day hike and we are all excited.

Saturday, 17 October

Today was pretty chilled out because it’s the weekend.  We rehearsed our Family Day worship for tomorrow and did our washing.  After that we pretty much had free time.  I went and played with Evie the cow and Elsa.  For afternoon tea we had biscuits and then Mr Eilola told us his best jokes.  Tonight we are having hamburgers – so keen!

Eve

Today we woke up at 7am which was a blessing since I was so tired from yesterday.  We had pancakes for breakfast that were amazing.  We cleaned and prepared for Family Day and then had chilling out time all day until afternoon tea.  Mr Eilola told us jokes and one joke in particular made all of us annoyed.  For dinner we are having hamburgers.  Hope we don’t have any mishaps.

Lachlan M

For this day we woke up at a splendid 7am.  It’s an alright time considering we wake up earlier on a weekday.  I was feeling a little bit groggy when I woke up but alas that time went away.  I decided to skip breakfast for today as I will have a mixture of breakfast, morning tea and lunch.  It was an alright sandwich.  Our Binga group had to practice our devotion for Family Day.  I’m quite happy with my part.  For our last meal of the day, dinner, we are having hamburgers.  I’m going out of my comfort zone and having two.  I have a feeling I’m going to want thirds!

Coen

Today everyone was excited for Family Day.  We have been preparing and rehearsing a worship for our families.  We have also been cleaning to make the place look good and have been chilling out for the past few hours.  Tonight is the social night and we are having hamburgers.
