Transitions to specialised campuses

Faith Lutheran College Redlands is now 43 years old and its campuses need renewal to varying degrees. This provides an opportunity to reorganise the College for the future, with a view to delivering the best educational outcomes.

Over the next four years the College’s Beveridge Road and Link Road campuses will progressively transform into two specialised campuses:

  • Prep-3 at Link Road
  • Upper Primary and Secondary (4‑12 at Beveridge Road)

The change will:

  • secure FLC’s future with enhanced, contemporary facilities
  • strengthen our successful MyPath education program
  • allow expansion to accommodate a growing enrolment waiting list

Strengthening Faith’s MyPath program

Learning at Faith looks and feels different to traditional high school.

Faith’s MyPath program, introduced from 2020, is now nationally recognised and delivering strong outcomes.

  • It is presently introduced in year 7 as a foundation year delivered by dedicated teachers. At the end of year 7 students develop a personalised pathway for years 8-10. They then participate in project‑based courses rather than subjects, with core subject material (eg. literacy, numeracy) integrated.
  • MyPath is tailored to each individual student, matching their interests, talents and aspirations.
  • With research showing that students are more likely to disengage in year 5-6, the school is committed to better preparing students for the MyPath program with a stronger lead in across years 5-6 to the year 7 foundation year. This creates a need for an integrated 4-12 campus.

Rebuilding to suit contemporary needs

Meeting community demand: a Mission imperative

Faith Lutheran College is committed to serving the Redlands community and intends to address long waiting lists to come to the College. This is aligned with the College’s vision and mission: “To be a dynamic, Christian learning community that focuses on service, innovation, global thinking and excellence.”

The Redlands community is asking Faith to do more, and we are responding.

The investment in new purpose-built facilities will allow us to open our educational opportunities for more students, with modest growth without compromising our quality of student experiences or culture.

It is a strength of Faith that every student feels known. This is fundamental to our approach and will not change. Our dedicated student pastoral care will continue across both campuses.

Link Rd to Beveridge Rd student transition

Moving to the Beveridge Rd campus brings with it many changes. While not exhaustive, the information below highlights many of those changes and all the work the College has been doing to prepare for the Year 4-6 transition.

The Master Plan

Since 2025, the College Executive has met fortnightly with a team of town planners, architects, project managers, engineers, and other professionals to design, plan, and implement the College master plan. Considerable time has been, and continues to be, dedicated to ensuring the College’s future plans are educationally sound, best for students, fiscally responsible, and logistically feasible. The Multipurpose Hall is the first of one of many carefully thought-out projects in the Master Plan.

At the same time as architects and engineers designing and developing, teams of school leaders and teachers have been designing and planning the changes and shifts the Master Plan requires in our educational, wellbeing, sporting and cultural programs.

Many hours have been spent reviewing building designs, classroom layouts, furniture selection, curriculum redesign, program implementation, and all the details associated with giving our students the best learning experience possible. We know the full transition to Beveridge Rd will be fantastic – our overwhelmingly positive experience of the 2026 Year 6 transition gives us this confidence.

Sharing the Campus

Like most other Lutheran Colleges in QLD, younger students and older students will share facilities and play spaces when Beveridge Rd matures into a Year 4-12 campus. A major part of this maturation is developing an Upper Primary precinct (currently M Block) for use by Year 4–6 students. This redevelopment will include renovated classrooms, a completely redesigned internal courtyard, additional playground spaces and playground equipment and other associated alterations.

As the physical campus evolves with these new buildings and spaces, the utilisation of the new and renovated spaces will also evolve, guided by what is best for students. Age-appropriate play spaces and facilities will be set aside.

The College may also consider staggered break times if that better meets students’ needs.

Toileting for younger students

When Year 4-6 students are based at Beveridge Rd, they will have dedicated toilets that senior students will not use. This is currently in place for our Year 6 students.

Health Services

Like Link Rd, Beveridge Rd has a full-time nurse and a fully staffed health hub. On Beveridge Rd, these facilities are located within the Student Reception, located at the entrance to the Upper Primary precinct (M Block).

Learning Spaces & Facilities

Upper Primary classes will all be in the Upper Primary precinct (the current M Block), with classrooms all facing into the central courtyard. Renovations are already planned for the classrooms to ensure they are ready to go for their new, younger students. The central courtyard will be fully renovated to be a hybrid playground/learning space/lunch area for use by Years 4-6.

Library Facilities

Plans are already underway to update the Beveridge Rd Lighthouse (the Library). The Director of Library Services, Mrs Monica Altmann, has already begun building an Upper Primary collection within the Lighthouse to ensure our new learners on Beveridge Rd have age-appropriate resources available.

Access to Specialist Facilities

Upper Primary students will have access to all the facilities (timetable dependent) the Beveridge Rd campus offers and, with that, to specialist teachers trained in those disciplines. These facilities include:

  • Science labs
  • Kitchen / Food Tech
  • Music rooms
  • Art studios
  • Digital technologies and Design
  • Multipurpose Hall and Gym

Traffic Management

Major works are underway to review the traffic flow on and adjacent to both the Link Rd and Beveridge Rd campuses. Traffic engineers have worked with the College since 2025 to help redesign access roads, parking spaces, pick-up and drop-off systems, and access to and from campuses.

While the College may not be able to impact the travel time between campuses during peak hours, it is being extremely deliberate in redesigning traffic flow for the benefit of the Faith community.

As part of this redesign and rethinking of traffic flow, the College is also considering how staggered start and end times may positively impact traffic buildup and parking challenges.

OHSC for Upper Primary

OSHC will continue to run on the Link Rd campus in 2028. The intercampus bus will continue to shuttle students between campuses before and after school. A staff member meets both trips at the drop-off end to accompany students to where they need to be.

Student Uniforms

Upper Primary students will continue to wear the Primary school uniform, available through the school Uniform shop located on the Beveridge Rd campus.

Late arrivals and early departures

The system for late arrivals and early departures to and from Beveridge Rd will remain the same as at Link Rd. Students/Parents sign in and out through Student Reception, located at the entrance to the Upper Primary precinct (M Block).
