Junior School News T4 W6 2021

As we head into the last weeks of Term 4, it is important that we continue to have conversations about overcoming obstacles, using our courage, and having a ‘Growth Mindset’. Our brain is a muscle that gets stronger each time we try something new and challenging. I was so impressed as I visited classrooms this week and saw the students putting these thoughts into action by showing their curiosity and courage when learning and striving to do their best even if a Maths problem was challenging or they couldn’t remember their times tables. It is this determination that will help our students achieve their personal best – it is not about getting everything correct, it is about being committed to keep trying even when it is hard and having that ‘Growth Mindset’ when we sit down and start learning. Mathematics is the highest self-efficacy subject that children take part in so their confidence matters! If you get a chance over the next few weeks, help your children look for Maths in their daily lives, have some fun with times tables or just encourage them to solve a problem or build something amazing out of Lego and count how many bricks they use. If we continue to encourage a love for Mathematics just as we encourage a love of reading, our children will continue to believe that Maths can be fun, mistakes help our brains grow and through commitment they will achieve their very own personal best.

Thank You – There are so many things that I appreciate each day about our wonderful Junior School. Our kids’ capacity to care and learn, our parents’ support and partnership as we guide our students and our teacher’s dedication and commitment to all that they do. At this time of year, our teachers are working extra hard to mark work as we prepare report cards, help students who may be getting a little tired and still make each day of learning just what it needs to be. If you see one of our fabulous Junior School teachers in the coming week, take a moment to stop and say thank you for all that they do, seen and unseen, each and every day.

End of Year Ceremonies – We continue to get ready for our end of year celebrations in the upcoming weeks. Before each ceremony letters will be sent to awardees with a link to book a seat so that you may attend. We would love as many of our community as possible at every event so even if your child isn’t receiving something we would love you to join us. For event seat bookings please visit: http://flcrjs.weebly.com/end-of-year-events.html and click on the event name to book your seat for your selected event/s.

Thank you for another great week of learning and community at Faith!
