That Went Quick

Hasn’t it felt like a fast first half of the year?

I have been so impressed with the opportunities provided by our staff and the uptake of these opportunities by our students. I would like to publicly thank and acknowledge our staff for going above and beyond to support our students’ extra-curricular involvement. Below is a photo summary of some of the things that have been happening.

I wish all our families and students a relaxing break and look forward to welcoming them back in July for what will be an exciting and action-packed semester of school.

Please keep an eye out for emails over the holiday sharing information for Term Three.

Student Voices

In these final weeks of a busy term where our students are just hanging in there, it was good to connect with these small groups and hear their thoughts. We decided to continue asking questions around what the students would like to do during lunchtimes and not surprisingly, the nap room idea came up, yet again. I am sure that it would be a popular idea if we asked the teachers the same thing at this time of term!

Some of the more active ideas involved were things like: water balloons, a dance off using the Just Dance game, more sporting options on the oval as well as indoor sports e.g. European Handball or futsal, more Teacher vs Students games and rock climbing.

Some students are also looking for quiet and relaxing things to do like using the drones, a movie room, a meditation room, a reading room or even yoga. Ideas around playing music on campus as well as having the rock band do concerts to help them get performance experience came up too.

It seems that teenagers think about food a lot as we received lots of ideas around additional food items on the tuckshop menu with suggestions like pizza, donuts, hash browns, sushi, and my personal favourite - 2-minute noodles. They also made suggestions around vending machines and the potential for students to leave campus to get food which is an indicator that they are not only thinking with their stomachs but are also looking for a bit more responsibility and freedom.

We are looking forward to hearing more from our students after a well-earned break.
