Secondary News T2 W9 2022

Busy Busy Busy…

I will be up front and honest. This semester has been huge. We had the later start, the online learning and the sickness of students and teachers that comes with the tail end of a pandemic. This placed a strain on our students and our staff team above what is perhaps the norm. But wow! Didn’t both of these groups come out strong in the face of some of these challenges.

I was truly amazed by the energy of the team right till the end. This is evidenced by the sheer volume of events that have happened this term:

  • ANZAC day services and Remember the Fallen Project
  • Countless Kokoda trainings
  • Japanese restaurant and cultural experience
  • 80’s Dress Up Day
  • Dreamworld excursion
  • Geography city excursion
  • Design Experience at QUT
  • Year 7 transition days
  • Café Culture events
  • Rotary Youth Driver Awareness
  • RACQ Docudrama
  • Forensics excursion and police visit
  • Parent teacher interviews
  • eSports competition
  • Volleyball Schools Cup
  • Basketball competition
  • Musical preparation
  • Positive psychology wellbeing expo
  • Court visits for Legal Studies
  • Blokes stuff began
  • Screenagers and psychologist presentation
  • ATAR information evening
  • Year 11 pastoral retreat
  • Year 12 Recharge run by College Captains
  • ….. and more…….

The list is endless and even this week we have had our Year 10’s on a camp in Brisbane where they are working towards understanding career pathways and what’s on offer post schooling.

It is amazing, special and we are blessed to have such a fantastic experience for our students.

As we enter the break I wish all families, students and staff a restful and safe break!

And I look forward to welcoming our students back as we hit the ground running with NAIDOC week activities in Week One and our 40th Anniversary Arts Week in Week Two.
