Contribution to Community Awards

As we move towards end of year events and awards I am writing to include you in our new process of checking a category of award that has been updated this year. Earlier this year the award category formally known as ‘Service and Loyalty Awards’ was changed to ‘Contribution to Community’ awards.

The Contribution to Community award seeks to acknowledge and thank students who have contributed their time and energy with positive qualities in multiple events throughout the school year. Students being nominated for a Contribution to Community CREDIT award would have demonstrative positive attitude, reliability, thoughtfulness, and positive role modelling in two or three activities. A Contribution to Community DISTINCTION award recognises students who have demonstrated the same qualities for more than 4 activities through the school year. Examples of activities would include chapel band, helping at the events like the Year 11 Garden Party or Police Remembrance service. The list of recognised activities is very long and can change from one year to the next depending on what events might be happening at the College. You can view the awards procedure by clicking here.

Over the next week and a bit students that are receiving awards at the Celebration of Learning will be notified. Please note that the only awards being presented at the Celebration of Learning are Top of Subject and Gold Awards for students in Years 7 – 12 along with Certificate level awards to students in Year 12 students only. All Years 7 – 11 Certificate level awards will be presented at a separate school assembly later in the term.

In particular students that are specifically receiving a Contribution to Community Gold Award will receive a separate distinct email letting them know this. As this is a slightly changed award we want to ensure that we recognise all students that meet it. So if you haven’t received an email by Friday 5 of November please email faithsecondaryadmin@flcr.qld.edu.au explaining why you believe your child should have received this category of award at a Gold Award level. We will then check against the awards procedures and adjust if necessary.

I would finally like to finish by acknowledging the wonderful work all our student do and how amazing they are as individuals. As a College we appreciate them all and what they bring to the community.

Best of Luck Year 12 students

Year 12 Formal at Sirrormet - what a night the students had to finish the formal part of their schooling. It was nice to see them celebrate and have fun together as a cohort. Please keep them in your prayers as they complete examinations and get ready for life post schooling.

Absentees

Please be aware that as part of our processes we will always contact home if students miss a significant amount of time during a semester. This is to provide a pastoral check-in and to also see if there is anything we can do as a College to support families and students when they are off, but also in terms of improving attendance in some cases. As a College we value attendance and are thankful for our families’ ongoing support in this area.
