Learning and Community Matter at Faith!

We have had a fabulous and busy start to Term 3 in our Junior School! Excitement is building as we continue to prepare for our upcoming school Musical, Book Week, and Funfest. Intertwined with all this our students have settled back into the classroom and are enjoying rich, engaging units as they learn new skills and acquire new knowledge each and every week. There is such a buzz of learning and community - what a great place Faith is to be!

During Assembly each week, we have been focusing on talking with our students about CARE. CARE for others with our words, CARE for others with kind hands and hearts in the playground and CARE for each other by thinking how we can help. We continue to have these conversations as we guide our students to think of others before themselves and learn to find ways that they can serve rather be served. 1 Peter 4:10-11, reminds us Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.” Each one of our students is blessed with unique gifts and talents, some of our students already know what they are, and some are still discovering them. As we engage our students with the many events at Faith such as Arts Week, Sports Carnivals and the Musical, we are giving them the opportunity for to not only discover their gifts but to share these discoveries with each other and our community.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL IS FAST APPROACHING – The countdown is on, and we are in the final weeks of preparation for our upcoming Musical! The progress the students have made as we head towards production is impressive and we are set to share a fantastic, high-energy production with the community for our 40th Year! Tickets will be on sale soon, so keep checking social media to ensure you don’t miss the opportunity to support these performances. Performance dates are 1 – 3 September with evening performances starting at 7:00pm and a Saturday matinee starting at 1:30pm.

Our cast shirts have unfortunately been delayed by the supplier, however when they arrive, students who are part of the cast and crew are invited to wear their High School Musical shirt to school each Thursday with their sports uniform.

BOOK WEEK 22 to 26 AUGUST – This year’s theme is “Dreaming with Eyes Open”. Our teachers are already getting excited and are planning their costumes for our dress up day on Wednesday 24 August. It is going to be an INCREDIBLE Book Week!

EKKA HOLIDAY – Just a reminder that we have Pupil Free days on Monday, 8 August (Redlands Ekka holiday) and Wednesday, 10 August (Brisbane Ekka Holiday). If you are part of our Musical production, students are asked to attend a rehearsal on Wednesday, 10 August but all other students will have a Pupil Free day.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our Faith community. We continue to look for new and supportive ways to have our parents volunteer on campus and be able to connect as a community. If you have a great community initiative that you would like us to consider implementing at the Junior School, please email Juniorschool@flcr.qld.edu.au and let us know. Partnership and connecting with each other as parents is an important part of who we are as a Faith community and we are looking forward to hearing your ideas on how this can be strengthened.
