R U OK?

Each year R U Ok day comes around and it is an excellent reminder to ask each other if they are OK. We support R U OK? Day to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with people around them. Looking out for one another and lending support is a key life skill for any age group and is part of what we promote through our 5C’s at Faith. Whilst children cannot be expected to fix someone’s problems, nor know the best way to help and support, we want to encourage our students to listen to what their friend is saying, let them know they care and tell a teacher or trusted adult if they are worried. The goal of creating awareness with an R U Ok? Day in the Junior School, is to promote an environment of positive peer support because that is part of The Faith Difference. It is important not just to ask each other R U OK? on this awareness day, but after the day as well.

Tennis Festival

On Tuesday, 14 September we have our spectacular Tennis Festival. We can’t wait to convert the oval into over 80 mini tennis courts! Our Ash Barty cup has been polished up and is ready to present. It will be a great day for our kids, encouraging them to be active and try out the sport of tennis. A big thank you to Tim from Bayside Tennis Coaching who continues to partner, support, and inspire our kids not just for this event but to get involved in Tennis at any time of the year. We are also having SUBWAY for lunch on this day.

FUSE e-Sports

Well done to our very first e-Sports competitors who went to the Fuse Cup earlier this week. They had a fabulous and competitive time testing their Rocket League skills against others. We can’t wait for the next round that will be coming up soon. If you would like more information, please speak with Mrs Altmann in the Library.

Finishing Well

As we enter the last week of school, we are encouraging all our students to finish well. This means that they dig deep and put in their best effort each day, inside and outside of the classroom. Have patience with one another, listen, understand their friends, and continue to use their courage and try new things, just as we discussed at assembly last week.

What will you read as a family these holidays?

Over the holidays the pace changes and we have the opportunity to take moments together and enjoy simple pleasures such as reading. Why not try reading a chapter book or a series of books together as a family to inspire our kids to use their imagination and take some time away from screens. Keeping our kids’ reading on their own and as a family is one of the ways you can ensure they are set for success as we enter Term 4. We would love to hear what books you have enjoyed together so that we can share your recommendations with others. Please share your stories with us via our Junior School email address juniorschool@flcr.qld.edu.au and we will add it to our community book recommendations that we are introducing in Term 4.
