A message to our Year 6 students as they move from our Link Road Campus to our Beveridge Road Campus

One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is to have the privilege of watching our Year 6 students grow as they move through the Junior School and are ready to become Secondary students. They grow as role models, grow as learners, and grow into incredible young men and women who are about to start the journey of who and where they want to be as young adults. These kids are growing up in times where friends are made and lost with the click of a button. Where, who celebrities are and how we look seems more important than who we are and what we choose to be like towards others. AD Williams, the grandfather of Martin Luther King Jnr. once said – “Imagine what seven billion humans cold accomplish if we all love and respected each other. Imagine.

Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart”.

As we farewell our Year 6 students, I want to take a moment to remind them of who they are created to be. To remind them that you can make a difference in this world by being yourself, not by being like others. To remind them that they determine the path they walk and the steps that they take. And to remind them that they will never be alone for God, your creator, will always be with you, loving you, caring for you and guiding you.

Year 6 students, as you enter the holidays, I encourage you to ask yourselves these questions: What do I believe? And just who will I be?

Will you be the person who worries about having the best clothes and the best shoes or will you be the person who has good values? Will you be the person who cares about others, or will you be the person who just doesn't bother?

This is your choice, and it is never too late to be who you want to be.

As you move to the next stage or your journey you will embark on adventures and achieve things you have always dreamed of attaining. It can be scary; it can be challenging but who you are and how you treat others will be more impacting that any other choice you can make. Choose to be kind, choose to continue upholding your 5C’s, choose to be you!

Jeremiah 1:8, “Do not be afraid, for I am with you”.

As you make the choice to stay true to who you are, to be kind to others to make a difference in our world, God walks with you. He walks with you today and he will walk with you tomorrow. He directly leads your path, and He already knows where you are headed.

Be courageous, always be creative and try new things, but again, always stay true to who you are and always be kind. In a world where you can be anything – Be Kind! Look at the students around you, beside you and in front of you. They support you, they looking to you as role models. Your teachers, your families and your friends will be there for you as you take these courageous steps and enter Secondary school. We believe in you, and we are proud of you for who you are and all that you are about to achieve.
