MyPath@Faith Public Product

Our MyPath@Faith program for students in Years 8 – 10 is quickly approaching the end of its first semester. Part of this program is the use of Project Based Learning to engage students in their learning in a real-world context. A huge aspect of this is what we refer to as the Public Product. These are events or actions that allow students to display their work in a way that moves it beyond a purely classroom task. Some examples of things we have had happen or are due to happen are:

  • Level 1 Maths had students pitching city solutions to the Deputy Mayor.
  • Entrepreneurship held their Bizfest yesterday. This provided students with the opportunity to sell their own products and ideas.
  • Mini roller coasters are currently being constructed in the Machines, Motion and Energy course.
  • Engineering for the Future students tested their own design and built bridges to breaking point in front of our Year 7 students.
  • Drama and Media were due to perform at Funfest but will now do that in front of other Arts students prior to performing again at the rescheduled Funfest.

These Public Products create accountability and realism for students. They are real world, engaging and experiential. If you have a student doing MyPath courses (especially Year 8 and 9) students ask them what they are doing currently.

Photo Day Co-Curricular Photos

Due to the lockdown, we missed the sports photos that were planned last week. We will complete these as part of our extracurricular photo day in Semester Two.

Elective Selection 2023

As we move into Semester Two, we will begin the process of students selecting electives for 2023. This begins first with our current Year 10’s, then moves to Year 9’s and hopefully will have our current Year 7 and 8’s completing theirs prior to the end of term.

Set down and Pick Up

At the start of Semester Two, when safe, we are going to be enforcing the two-minute set down time for cars in the pickup area. This will mean that cars that park up will be asked to do a lap of the carpark if they are waiting for their child for more than a few minutes. Our hope is that by creating better habits and increasing flow now it will support projected growth in numbers over the next 18 months.

Year 7/2024

Due to increased demand Year 7/2024 is filling up fast. Our current Year 6 students automatically have a place at the Secondary School as we are a P-12 school. However, if you are looking to enrol a younger sibling from a Junior School other than Faith or you know someone that is looking to enrol in 2024 the time to apply is now as once we are full all applications will go on a wait list.

End of Semester

We will be working students right until the end of semester. This means attendance is extremely important up until the last day of term.
